Senior Software Engineer/Technical Lead

DESCRIPTION
Lucid Imagination is looking for Senior Software Engineer to join its San Mateo, California software development team. You will take a leadership role in development of our flagship product, based on Apache Lucene and Solr open source technology. You will have a leadership role in our development team, so we’re looking for a self-starter who thrives in a dynamic environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be based at Lucid's headquarters in San Mateo, California but work with Lucid developers and engineers in both the USA and Europe.

You will be the main technical lead for LucidWorks Enterprise. You will help design and plan development efforts for each release of our application and work with other members of the team to help them understand requirements, plan work efforts, and overcome challenges during the development cycle. You will coordinate with Management and QA to determine delivery schedules and plan issue resolution.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 7+ years in a senior developer or other leadership role working on large-scale enterprise applications or web-based projects.
• Extensive experience deploying Java applications.
• Experience with search applications for either large-scale consumer websites or enterprise-specific deployments.
• Proven track record of on-time project delivery.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Ability to mentor colleagues in person and from a distance.
• Experience and comfort working with distributed teams and using IRC, email, VoIP, and IM as primary modes of communication.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with distributed database implementation.
• Experience with large-scale distributed computing.
• Contributor to open source projects (now or in the past).
• Experience with Lucene and Solr a plus.

 

 

UI Developer

DESCRIPTION
Lucid Imagination is looking for an experienced Front-end Developer to join its San Mateo, California software development team. You will be part of our team implementing web-based interfaces for our products and services, including the commercial LucidWorks Enterprise product line. You should have extensive JavaScript, CSS, and HTML experience and thrive in a dynamic work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be based at Lucid's headquarters in San Mateo, California but work with Lucid’s Engineering team based in both the USA and Europe.

You will play an integral role in developing our application interfaces as both stand-alone applications and publicly available services using JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years JavaScript experience in large-scale web deployments requiring cross-browser compatibility.
• Strong command of web standards, CSS-driven/table-less HTML layouts, cross-browser compatibility & browser degradation strategies.
• Experience with multiple development and deployment environments.
• BS in Computer Science or comparable experience.
• Fluent written and spoke English.
• Experience and comfort working with distributed teams and using IRC, email, VoIP, and IM as primary modes of communication.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience with user-centric design and usability testing.
• Experience with optimization techniques (both in file weight and perceived/actual rendering speed), dynamic content retrieval, state management, accessibility techniques, device-portability techniques, and internationalization issues.
• Knowledge and/or experience of search technologies, especially Lucene and Solr.
• Experience with open source development tools and environments.
• Contributor to open-source projects (now or in the past).
• Experience working in a Rails environment a plus.

 

 

QA Lead

You will be key part of our team leading our quality assurance efforts for our products and services, including the commercial LucidWorks Enterprise product line. You should have extensive leadership and automation experience and thrive in a dynamic work environment.

You’ll have overall responsibility for all quality assurance testing and drive QA efforts for all applications. You will develop and execute test plans for new releases, automating as much as possible.

• 5+ years working with QA processes to test shippable enterprise software.
• At least 1 year in a Lead position, or equivalent experience.
• Prior success building QA processes in a startup environment.
• Experience with shell scripting, test automation, and performance testing.
• Fluent written and spoke English.
• Experience and comfort working with distributed teams and using IRC, email, VoIP, and IM as primary modes of communication.
