    -------------------
I have registered myself on lucid forum but it doesn’t let me create a new post. I get a message saying “Posting in this forum is limited to authorized users.”

Also, I have another issue that has come up on our DEV environment. We are trying to use Microsoft JDBC Driver for SQL Server to index one of our database using LUCID. When we try to create a new data source using this driver, we get the following message and the data source isn’t created.

Solr appears to be busy right now and isn't responding to our request for status. This can happen under heavy load, or when a CPU intensive activity is taking place.

I used to a java test  client that uses this same driver to connect to the same box where my database is located, and it went through fine. I have used the same driver on a different setup (LUCID on my desktop) and it works fine. It doesn’t work on our dev. setup alone. Our dev. setup has firewalls between machines, but the test client running on the same box as LUCID was able to connect to the database using the same driver.

Is there a log file that we can check on what is going wrong here ?

    Please let me know.

I appreciate any help on this.

    Jawahar-

The ports used by LWE are listed in conf/master.conf. By default, they are 8989 for the UI and 8888 for the LW core and Solr app.

    1. Does LW work otherwise? Can you index documents, search them etc.?
    2. How did you install the JDBC driver? With the JDBC upload ui?
    3. Is it only the JDBC connection that fails?

The log files are in data/logs. UI is the ui requests and actions, core is the internal actions of the core, and request is the traffic between the two parts.

From what we know, it is probably the case that there is a firewall rule dropping all packets to the SQL Server app. You can verify this by running a command-line program called 'curl' against that port. This page tells how to download and install curl:

    http://superuser.com/questions/134685/run-curl-commands-from-windows-console

'curl' is very useful for doing test calls to Solr, and scripting simple uploads and queries.

    Posed for Jawahar:

    ___________________________

We found the cause for the JDBC driver not being loaded when we run LUCID as a service.

There seems to be a bug in java 1.6.0.29 concerning ssl and update 30 fixed it. We had 29 and 30 on the box. When running from a command prompt we pointed to 30 and it worked, but when it was started as a service, we were pointing to 29 and hence it wouldn't load the driver. We have fixed this problem now and we are all set.
