Distribution for Solr
LucidWorks Certified Distribution for Solr is the up to date, tested and release-stable certified distribution of Apache Solr available free from Lucid Imagination.
Keeping pace with the testing, validation, and integration of nightly builds and patches from the Apache Solr trunk can be time consuming and error prone. LucidWorks Certified Distribution for Solr provides experienced open source developers a more reliable foundation. Freeing you from time spent curating source code and patches gives you more time to building more compelling search apps.
Available Supported Releases
Supported Releases of the LucidWorks Certified Distributions are based on select complete releases from the Apache project. They maybe freely downloaded for unlimited use, with available enterprise-class support available via Lucid Imagination Support Subscriptions. By providing multiple generations of Certfied Distribution releases, Lucid Imagination offers production-oriented IT organizations with long-term release stability, insulated from variations in timing and granularity of the community release process. These periodic releases will generally trail the Apache release process with enough of a lag to allow the additional qualification and documentation required by exacting enterprise-class deployments.
Release 3.2
The most current LucidWorks Certified Distribution for Solr, Release 3.2, includes the most compelling new features of Solr, directly from the Apache Lucene project, tested and qualified against the exacting standards of Lucid Imagination's open source enterprise search experts. It follows the release of Apache Solr 3.1, whose number reflects the merge of development with Lucene, which is currently also on 3.1. Solr 3.2 contains Lucene 3.2. Its predecessor, Solr 3.1, contains Lucene 3.1, and is the release after Solr 1.4.1.

Release 1.4.1
LucidWorks Certified Distribution for Solr Release 1.4, is based on the 1.4 release branch of Apache Solr and includes the major new feature enhancements of this important release. As a major update release, LucidWorks for Solr Release 1.4.1 includes:
- enhanced data import capabilities
- rich document handling
- speedier numeric range queries
- duplicate detection
- java-based replication and deployment
- smarter handling of index changes
- faster faceting
- streamlined caching
- and more
The LucidWorks Certified Distribution includes an Installer, and comes with the first complete Solr Reference Guide. It is also accompanied by the Certified Distribution Reference Guide (release 3.4), the most comprehensive free reference available for Solr.
- Apache Solr 1.4 is based on and includes the LucidWorks Certified Distribution for Lucene v2.9.1
- Additional bug fixes and performance enhancements from the trunk of the Apache Solr project, including non-blocking IO and significantly improved faceting performance.
- LucidKStemmer, Lucid's optimized version of KStemmer, the Krovetz stemmer available from the University of Massachusetts. A stemmer reduces words to a root form, providing the ability to search for derivatives of a "stem word" (e.g., "team" is the stem of "teams"). This dictionary based inflectional stemmer stems less aggressively than the standard Porter stemmer included with Apache Lucene. (LucidKStemmer is English-only at this time.)
- Lucene Index Toolbox (Luke), a handy development and diagnostic tool that no Lucene/Solr developer should be without. Luke allows developers to examine and modify existing Lucene indexes, and quickly identify issues in data feed, search accuracy and search relevancy.
- LucidGaze for Solr 1.4 is an open source monitoring tool created and contributed by Lucid for Solr environments. It provides a framework to capture, store, interactively view and compare various Solr performance metrics.
