About Lucid Certification
If you have a lot of experience in developing search applications, why would you need Solr/Lucene Search Certification? Isn't experience alone sufficient evidence of skills?
Search is by definition a very diverse field, and the great demand for skills by employers and development organizations mandates a consistent set of criteria for evaluating those skills. The Solr/Lucene Certification Exam is a standardized benchmark of open source search knowledge, skills, and experience.
By establishing a standard measure that can be used universally, the Solr/Lucene Search Certification provides a transferable, universally applicable measure of your capabilities. Evidence does show that testing has a strong pedagogic effect in capturing knowledge; that said, it is no substitute for experience.
The Certification Exam
The Solr/Lucene Certification Exam was written by a select group of Solr/Lucene committers and search thought leaders. Building on their wide-ranging experience in writing and maintaining multiple generations of Solr/Lucene open source code as well as real-world deployment, this team has devised a challenging, well-organized set of test questions. Developed in close collaboration with Prometric.com, the exam has been vetted with statistical and psychometric methods to ensure fairness, reliability, validity, rigor, objectivity, technical accuracy, freedom-from-bias and sound language structure.
The test has been carefully designed to challenge the breadth of your experience; we expect that few, if any, candidates will be able to pass it without hands-on real-world experience in using Solr/Lucene technology for search applications. Taking the test requires a $250 registration fee and signing a non-disclosure agreement (including your commitment not to reveal the questions to others).
